New LEGO Sets for May The 4th 2021 Event
The breakdown of LEGO Star Wars new items for this year’s May the 4th event looks exactly the same as last year’s event. There will be a new exclusive (D2C) LEGO set, plus additions to the LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection and a buildable droid that will also be available over-the-counter and thus discounted at other retailers.
LEGO Star Wars 75308 R2-D2
Today, the first teaser for the big May the 4th set already arrived, so the official unveiling should be coming soon: The LEGO Star Wars 75308 R2-D2. The new set is not part of the Ultimate Collector Series, but still a re-release of an old UCS set, namely the LEGO 10225 UCS R2-D2 from 2012.
Priced at US$199.99, the 18+ set will be available at LEGO shop on May 1 and consists of 2314 pieces. Included is a minifigure of R2-D2 on a 50th anniversary Lucasfilm plaque.
LEGO Star Wars helmets and search droid
As further novelties, two new LEGO Star Wars helmets will be released for the LEGO May the 4th Event 2021, which we have already presented to you in detail. These are available directly from LEGO from April 26, 2021, but still belong to the Star Wars Day release in terms of content. Unlike last year, where there was still the exclusive LEGO 75274 TIE Fighter Pilot Helmet, this year there is no exclusive helmet as a novelty – the two helmets and the Imperial Search Droid are all also available at retail.

LEGO Star Wars 40451 Tatooine Homestead GWP
Again this year, in keeping with the LEGO May the 4th event, there will be a free gift (“Gift with Purchase”). This year, as in the previous two years, there will also be a small diorama in microscale. After Hoth, Endor and the Death Star II have been realized in this form, now Tatooine and the dwelling of Luke Skywalker from Episode IV will follow. The small LEGO Star Wars 40451 “The Farm on Tatooine” set has now been officially unveiled and equipped with visuals.
The small LEGO Star Wars 40451 Tatooine Homestead set will be available with a purchase value of US$85. The free gift is only available from May 1 to May 5. As always, the set can also be quickly sold out, because it’s only available while stocks last.
Important: The LEGO Star Wars 40451 Tatooine Homestead free gift is only available for LEGO Star Wars purchases on LEGO.com or in LEGO Brand Stores.
LEGO Star Wars 30388 Imperial Shuttle (Polybag)
Another (rather uninteresting) freebie is the LEGO Star Wars 30388 Imperial Shuttle polybag. This will be offered in the USA exclusively in the Brand Stores with a purchase value of $40 US.
But you don’t have to worry if you have no LEGO Brand Store near you: The small polybag is by no means exclusive and will also be available at other retailers.
Double VIP points on LEGO Star Wars products
After today, April 20, is the last day of the promotion for double LEGO VIP points in the LEGO shop, LEGO Star Wars fans, on the other hand, do not have to worry: Double VIP points have been announced again for the May the 4th event in the LEGO shop and stores, but of course only for LEGO Star Wars products.
So by doing this, you will be credited with VIP points equal to 10% of your order value, which you can use in future promotions. Just like last year, the double VIP points are also available on the new items presented above, so the R2-D2 will also be directly available for order with double points (and free gift).
Short calculation trip: Double VIP points correspond to an effective discount of 9,09% for your order, because you get (serves here as a simple calculation example) 110,- Euro value of goods for 100,- Euro.
Discounts on selected LEGO Star Wars sets?
As far as reduced LEGO Star Wars sets on LEGO.com are concerned, we unfortunately don’t have any reliable information on that yet. But in the past years, the LEGO May the 4th event has always been a guarantee for some good discounts on LEGO Star Wars sets. No discounts have been announced on the official promotion page yet, but that doesn’t have to mean anything.
While in 2018 there were even discounts on exclusive sets, in 2019 there were still up to 40% discounts on some regular LEGO Star Wars sets. Then in 2020, unfortunately, there were only 20% discounts on some non-exclusive sets. Unfortunately, we don’t know how it will look like in 2021, but we expect that there should be at least 20% discount on some selected sets. As soon as we have detailed information about this, we’ll give it to you as soon as possible!
As always, the double VIP points are also available on any reduced sets, so that the discounts can be combined with the points and free gifts.
Promotions at other retailers
Not only LEGO itself, but also other retailers will again launch some promotions for the May the 4th event. Many of them certainly go beyond LEGO and generally dealt with promotions around Star Wars. We would like to present what we know so far.
May the 4th at JB Toys
The real promotion for Star Wars Day at JB Spielwaren, the LEGO retailer we trust, is unfortunately already over. Already at the start of the pre-orders of the LEGO Star Wars novelties, JB Spielwaren started a pretty cool promotion with a limited Star Wars Mystery Box, which is unfortunately already completely sold out.
As a replacement you can get a DIN A5 sized poster of Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker for orders over 110,- Euro (LEGO Star Wars products only). The poster will be added automatically during the shipping process and will not be included in the shopping cart. A coupon code is not necessary here.
There may be more promotions for the May the 4th event itself – we will update our post here accordingly.
More stores will be added
We have not yet received any feedback from other stores about possible LEGO promotions planned for Star Wars Day. We will send you the information as soon as we get it.
What and when is Star Wars Day? And why do we celebrate it?
A short history trip for all those who don’t know the history and origin of Star Wars Day: The international Star Wars Day takes place every year on May 04. The origin is simply that the English phrase “May the Force be with you” sounds very similar to “May theFourth“.
The origin of the whole thing is in May 1979 (a little more than 1 year after the release of the first Star Wars movie), when a Danish newspaper printed the sentence “May the Fourth Be with You, Maggie” to congratulate Margaret Thatcher on her inauguration as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on May 4, 1979.
Over the years, Star Wars Day has now become established and is celebrated by Star Wars fans around the world. At LEGO, too, the day has become a tradition as a release day for new normal sets, exclusive sets and for special promotions. So now again in 2021.
Conclusion of the LEGO May the 4th 2021 Event
Also this year LEGO will not miss the May the 4th event and will launch some promotions as well as an exclusive new product. We are still waiting for the official pictures of the R2-D2 and this year’s free gift and we are also waiting for hints if there will be an interesting LEGO Star Wars sale with discounted products in the LEGO shop again.
Of course we will keep you up to date with all news and promotions around this year’s Star Wars Day in the coming days!
What do you think about this year’s promotions for the May the 4th event at LEGO? Are you participating in this year’s promotion (again? for the first time?) and what do you end up with in your shopping cart? Feel free to discuss Star Wars Day 2021 in the comments!
